Chapter 1: The Boy Who Pressed Record

Seven-year-old Noah stood halfway down the grand staircase, gripping a black smartphone with both hands.

He was trying desperately not to cry.

"Mr.

Ethan...

please come home.

Mommy is bl\*\*ding again."

Downstairs, Clara knelt beside an overturned bucket on the marble floor.

Bl\*\*d marked the corner of her lip as water slowly spread across the foyer.

Madison stood over her in a crimson pantsuit.

Minutes later, the mansion's front door opened.

Ethan stepped inside.

"Clara, what happened?"

Before Clara could answer, Madison moved between them.

"She slipped.

It was just a clumsy accident."

Clara lowered her eyes.

She had heard that explanation before.

But this time, someone had witnessed everything.

Small footsteps suddenly raced down the staircase.

Noah stopped beside his mother and positioned himself between Clara and Madison.

"No.

Madison pushed Mommy."

Silence.

Ethan slowly turned toward Madison.

"Is that true?"

Her confident expression faltered.

"Noah misunderstood."

But the boy shook his head.

Then he raised the smartphone.

"I recorded it."

Madison went pale.

Ethan took the phone and pressed play.

The video showed more than Madison pushing Clara.

Seconds before the att@ck, Madison had been questioning Clara about a locked room upstairs — one Ethan had forbidden anyone from entering.

Then came a sentence that changed his expression completely.

Madison's recorded voice whispered:

"Tell me where Ethan keeps the documents."

Ethan stopped the video.

Clara finally looked up.

"She isn't here because of me."

Madison backed toward the door.

Ethan stared at her.

Because suddenly he understood: hurting Clara hadn't been the plan.

She had been caught searching for something inside his mansion.

And whatever Madison wanted was valuable enough to make her att@ck the only person who saw her.
