Chapter 1: The Notebook Under the Stairs

Vanessa smiled like a loving stepmother for three years.

But the notebook in her hand exposed what she really was.

When Ethan's father came home early from a business trip, he expected joy.

Maybe a hug.

Maybe his six-year-old son racing into his arms.

Instead, he found a silent house and a terrified child hiding under the staircase.

Ethan whispered that Vanessa made him write things.

That he was bad.

That he was aggressive.

That if his father believed it, he would be sent away.

Vanessa tried to silence him immediately, but the fear in Ethan's eyes told the truth before the notebook ever did.

Then his father opened it.

Page after page described incidents that never happened.

Fake reports.

Dates.

Forged signatures.

A paper trail designed to make Ethan look unstable.

Then came the final line.

"After custody transfer, the family trust will become accessible."

Vanessa had not been trying to raise Ethan.

She had been trying to erase him.

What happened when her plan was finally exposed?
