Chapter 1: The Shadow Behind the Camera

She thought disabling the cameras and blaming the nanny would cover up her cruelty to a toddler, completely unaware the billionaire father was standing in the shadows listening to every single word.
The billionaire came home early and found his fourteen-month-old son being dragged across the marble floor by one arm.
But what he heard next was even worse.
"Stop!
You're breaking his arm!"
The nanny, Lily, threw herself between the baby and Victor Blackwood's glamorous fiancée.
Serena responded by driving her heel into Lily's stomach.
Then she leaned over the injured nanny and whispered,
"Touch him again, and you disappear."
Serena thought she was safe.
She had disabled the mansion's security camera.
She knew Victor wasn't supposed to return until morning.
And if anyone asked questions, she already had the perfect story:
**Blame the nanny.**
There was only one problem.
Victor Blackwood was standing in the shadows.
He had come home early.
And when Serena realized he had seen enough to grow suspicious, she immediately pointed at Lily.
"She hurt Ethan.
I tried to stop her."
For a moment, nobody knew whom Victor would believe.
Then he spotted something blinking beneath a table.
A tiny recorder.
Victor pressed PLAY.
Serena's own voice filled the mansion.
"You think anyone will believe a cheap nanny over me?"
Then came Ethan's scream.
Then Lily's desperate voice:
"You're breaking his arm."
Serena went white.
But Victor had barely begun listening.
Because moments later, a terrified housemaid stepped out of the shadows and whispered:
"Sir…
this wasn't the first time."
And what they discovered next made the recording look like only the beginning.
