Chapter 2: The Name He Should Never Have Said

Julian read the message three times.
His hands weren't steady by the third.
The text from the unfamiliar number continued: *Every reservation at this resort was booked under my name and my card.
The suite.
The restaurant bookings.
The private excursions.
All of it.
I've already called the hotel manager and canceled the account access I granted you.
Enjoy the room tonight.
Check-out is tomorrow morning.*
He stared at the screen.
Then he looked slowly around the beautiful suite — the fresh flowers, the champagne on ice, the card on the pillow that read *Mr.
& Mrs.
Ashford.*
Sienna appeared in the doorway behind him, still holding her carry-on.
"Julian?
What's wrong?"
He didn't answer.
He was already dialing.
The call connected after two rings.
"Clara—"
"I'm not going to argue," I said calmly.
"I just wanted you to know that I saw everything clearly the moment Sienna walked through that terminal in her white dress."
A long silence.
Then, very quietly, Julian said a name.
Not my name.
A name I had never heard him say before.
And in that single word, I understood that the honeymoon was never the real problem.
The real problem had started long before the wedding.

What Clara discovered next turned everything she thought she knew upside down.
