Chapter 2: One Word, Three Phone Calls, Four Days

That single word sent to the group chat.
Then I put my phone face-down and finished the meeting.
Nobody in that boardroom knew that while my supervisor was talking about quarterly targets, I was quietly making three phone calls in my head.
The florist.
The venue.
The catering company.
Every contract had one thing in common.
My signature.
My card.
My name.
Not Julian's.
Not Chloe's.
Not Mom or Dad's.
Mine.
By the time the meeting ended, I had already drafted the emails.
That evening, Julian called.
Not to apologize.
His voice was tight, almost confused.
"The florist just cancelled.
What did you do?"
"Nothing," I said.
"I simply stopped doing everything."
"You can't do this.
The wedding is in four days."
"I know," I said.
"Goodbye, Julian."
I ended the call.
Then Dad called.
Then Mom.
Then Chloe.
I let every one of them go to voicemail.
But it was the last message that stopped me cold.
It wasn't from Julian.
It was from a number I didn't recognize.
No name.
Just four words.
*"You don't know everything."*
I stared at my screen for a long time.
What did that mean?
Who sent it?
And what exactly didn't I know?
