Chapter 1: The Buttons on the Floor

Ethan sl@pped his 75-year-old father for something he never did, and the truth waiting on the security footage may be impossible to forgive.

No one in the room knew Sophia Whitmore had staged the entire scene herself.

Richard Whitmore, 75, was standing several feet away.

He had never touched her.

But Sophia quietly checked the hallway—

then deliberately messed up her own hair.

Next, she grabbed the front of her blouse and tore off several buttons herself.

The buttons scattered across the floor.

Richard stared at her in disbelief.

"Sophia…

what are you doing?"

But Sophia immediately stepped backward.

She wrapped her arms around herself and began crying.

"HELP!

GET AWAY FROM ME!"

Her screams brought Ethan and the rest of the family rushing into the room.

They saw only—

Sophia's messy hair.

Her missing buttons.

The tears on her face.

And Richard standing across from her.

Ethan didn't ask a single question.

He stepped forward—

and sl@pped his 75-year-old father in front of everyone.

"HOW DARE YOU TOUCH HER?!"

Richard staggered.

But he didn't argue.

He didn't shout.

He didn't even try to explain.

Instead, he looked painfully at his son.

Then slowly raised one trembling hand—

and pointed toward the corner of the room.

Sophia looked up.

The security camera was still there.

And its red recording light was still glowing.

Her crying stopped instantly.

Her face went pale.

Because the buttons she had torn off herself were still lying on the floor—

and the camera may have captured every second of her performance.

Ethan slowly turned toward his wife.

What will happen when Ethan watches the footage?

Why was Sophia so determined to frame Richard?

And can Richard ever forgive his own son for judging him before hearing the truth?
