Adrian stood frozen, staring at the screen.
His hand — the one he had raised against Clara — dropped to his side.
"That's…
that's not what Vanessa told me," he whispered.
Clara said nothing.
She just pressed her hand against her cheek and looked at the floor.
Vanessa stepped back.
"The video doesn't show everything.
It's out of context—"
"Out of context?" Olivia's voice cracked.
"Dad, she PUSHED the stroller toward the stairs.
Emma could have—"
"Stop." Adrian's voice was low.
Dangerous.
He turned to Vanessa slowly.
Vanessa's eyes darted to the door.
Then Adrian's phone buzzed on the table.
He glanced down at the screen.
It was a message from an unsaved number.
Three words:
*"This wasn't accidental."*
Adrian looked up.
His face had changed completely.
"Who sent this?" he said quietly.
No one answered.
But Clara's eyes moved — just for a second — toward Vanessa.
And Vanessa saw it.
Her expression shifted from fear into something colder.
Something that made Olivia reach for her mother's arm without even thinking.
