Chapter 2: The Promise a Dead Man Left Behind

Part 2 ⬇️
Damian led her through a private door she had never noticed in three weeks of working the club.
A staircase.
Then a room — quiet, dark-paneled, nothing like the chaos above.
He poured two glasses of water and set one in front of her without a word.
Sienna didn't touch it.
"Who taught you the Corsican Drop?"
His voice was calm.
That was somehow worse than anger.
"My father."
"His name."
"Robert Hayes."
Something crossed Damian's face.
Gone before she could read it.
"Robert Hayes has been d*ad for eight months."
Sienna's chest tightened.
"I know."
Silence stretched between them.
Damian studied her the way a man studies a problem he didn't expect.
"That signal hasn't been used in over a decade," he said quietly.
"The last person who invoked it was someone I trusted completely."
He set his glass down.
"How much did your father actually tell you about me?"
Sienna went still.
Because the truth was — her father had said one thing she hadn't understood until this moment.
*"If you're ever in real danger, Sienna, find Russo.
Tell him Robert Hayes kept his promise."*
She had thought it was the alcohol talking.
Now Damian was watching her with an expression she couldn't name.
And his right hand had stopped moving entirely.

What promise did Robert Hayes make to Damian Russo — and why did he never tell Sienna the truth?
