Chapter 2: The Email He Never Wrote

**PART 2**
Mason didn't raise his voice.
He didn't need to.
He pulled out his phone and called his head of finance.
"Pull every supplier invoice for the Grand Crest restaurant.
Four years.
All of it.
Send it to my personal email in the next thirty minutes."
Brandon stood by the wall, arms crossed, jaw tight.
"This is an overreaction," he said.
"One substituted product doesn't mean—"
"Joanne Parker wrote to me eight months ago," Mason said quietly.
"I never received that letter."
The room went still.
Mason looked at the hotel manager, a thin man named Gerald who had been standing near the door saying nothing.
"Did you know about her letter?"
Gerald's eyes moved to Brandon.
Just for a second.
But Mason saw it.
"I want her personnel file.
Now."
Gerald left the room.
Brandon said nothing.
Lily was still sitting at the table.
She reached into her backpack and pulled out her phone — an old cracked one — and placed it on the table.
"My mom kept copies," she said.
"She sent the letter twice.
She also kept the photos."
Mason picked up the phone.
The first photo showed the same cheap package.
The date stamp read fourteen months ago.
The second photo showed something that made Mason's hands go still.
It was a screenshot of an email.
Sent from the hotel's official owner account.
His account.
Telling Joanne Parker her complaint had been reviewed and she was dismissed for theft.
Mason had never written that email.
Someone had used his name to silence her.
And then to destroy her.
He looked up at Brandon slowly.
"Who else had access to my email account?"
Brandon said nothing.
But his face said everything.
