Chapter 2: The Signature That Wasn't Hers

**PART 2**
Christopher stared at the photograph on Alison's phone without saying a word.
Then he looked up.
"Alison.
I've seen this contract before."
She felt the floor drop out from under her.
"What do you mean you've seen it?"
"Three weeks ago.
A man came to my office asking about the downtown property.
He said he was your legal representative.
He had a document with your signature on it."
Alison shook her head slowly.
"I never signed anything.
I never sent anyone."
Christopher turned the phone toward her and pointed at the bottom of the contract in the photograph.
There it was.
Her name.
Her signature.
Except she had never held that pen.
Mrs.
Catherine put her hand over her mouth.
Abigail was sitting on a bench nearby, pretending to look at her shoes.
Alison's phone rang again.
Unknown number.
She answered.
A man's voice.
Calm.
Professional.
"Ms.
Alison?
I'm calling to confirm the signing appointment for tomorrow morning.
Mr.
Gregory said you were fully prepared."
The call dropped before she could speak.
Christopher was already dialing his lawyer.
But what none of them knew yet was that Gregory hadn't acted alone.
And the person who had helped him forge that signature was someone Alison had trusted for years.
