Chapter 2: The Name on the Screen

Part 2 ⬇️

Dominic's head of security, Marco, met him in the corridor outside the kitchen.

His face was tight.

"We pulled the footage."

"And?"

Marco hesitated.

That alone made Dominic's jaw harden.

"The camera covering the cold storage room went dark for eleven minutes.

Someone cut the feed from inside the house."

Dominic said nothing.

"It had to be someone who knew the system," Marco said quietly.

"The access code was changed three days ago.

Only seven people had the new one."

Seven people.

All of them trusted.

All of them vetted.

Dominic turned and walked back toward the ballroom without a word.

He stopped at the doorway.

The broken porcelain was still on the floor.

A single candle on the birthday table was still burning.

He thought about Lily.

Three years old.

Standing in that cold room alone while her mother worked upstairs.

He called for Marco again.

"The silver box Lily described.

Did your team find it?"

"Yes.

Wiped clean.

But sir—" Marco lowered his voice.

"There was something else near the service entrance.

A phone.

Burner.

One outgoing message sent at 7:42 tonight."

"What did it say?"

Marco handed him a printed screenshot.

Dominic read it once.

Then he read it again.

The name at the top of the message was someone he had trusted for years.

---

What was in that message — and whose name did Dominic see?

The full truth is darker than anyone expected.
