Chapter 1: The Boy Behind the Glass

The family went into the restaurant while Noah was locked alone inside the car.
That mistake saved my son.
Noah was locked inside the SUV.
He was only five.
His tiny hands were pressed against the window.
His face was soaked with tears.
One hand was clutching his stomach.
"Daddy," he cried.
"I'm hungry."
I unlocked the door and pulled him into my arms.
He was shaking so badly he could barely speak.
Then he whispered,
"She said I would embarrass everyone."
I turned toward the restaurant.
Vanessa was already rushing outside, trying to explain.
"He was making a scene," she said.
But then the valet pointed at the parking lot camera.
I told him to play the footage.
Vanessa's face went pale.
Because the video showed everything.
She locked my son in the car.
Then smiled and walked inside to eat.
