Chapter 2: The Name on the Paper

Part 2 ⬇️
Emily's hands moved slowly at first.
Then faster.
Alexander watched every word.
His face gave nothing away — but his hands, pressed flat against his thighs, had gone completely still.
"What is she saying?" Daniel asked quietly.
Alexander didn't answer right away.
When he finally spoke, his voice was low.
"She says Vanessa told Hale the medications needed to be stronger.
That I was still functioning too well."
Someone in the room made a sharp sound.
Vanessa stepped forward.
"She is a seven-year-old child who cannot hear.
She is guessing.
She is making things up."
Emily didn't flinch.
She signed one more word.
Alexander looked at it.
Then looked at Vanessa.
"She says there's a name.
Someone outside this house.
Someone who was supposed to receive control of my company once I was declared mentally unfit."
The room went absolutely still.
Hale's breathing had become audible.
Vanessa's jaw tightened.
"This is insane."
"Then tell me the name is wrong."
She said nothing.
Emily reached into her pocket again.
This time she removed a small folded piece of paper.
She held it out to Alexander with both hands.
He unfolded it.
And the color left his face.
---
What's written on that paper — and who else is involved?
The full truth is darker than anyone in that room expected.
