Chapter 2: The Key He Already Had

⬇️ **PART 2** ⬇️

"Control of what?" I asked.

Mr.

Wright sat down slowly, like his legs had stopped working.

"Miss Palmer…

your grandfather was the majority shareholder of Palmer Group Holdings." He paused.

"The parent company of your father's business."

The room tilted.

"That's not possible.

My father built that company himself.

He's told us that story our entire lives."

Mr.

Wright opened the mahogany box with a small key from his drawer — a key he already had.

Inside were documents.

Thick ones.

Dated ones.

"Walter Palmer provided the original capital.

Every cent.

Your father signed a silent partner agreement in 1987." He looked up at me.

"He was never the owner, Fiona.

He was always the manager."

My hands went still.

Savannah was at home right now, laughing with Lucas, planning how they would take over Dad's company.

A company that had never belonged to Dad at all.

Mr.

Wright slid one document toward me.

"There's something else."

He pointed to a single line near the bottom of the page.

"Upon Walter Palmer's passing, full controlling interest transfers to—"

His phone rang.

He looked at the screen and his face went white.

"It's your father."

What happens when Fiona's father realizes what she now holds?
