Chapter 2: The Call That Came Too Early

**PART 2**
Victoria grabbed Julian's arm.
"He's bluffing," she hissed.
"He's nobody."
Julian didn't move.
He was still staring at my chest.
"Mom." His voice had dropped to almost nothing.
"I've seen that mark before.
In Zurich.
On the men who came to collect from Uncle Dario." He swallowed hard.
"Uncle Dario never argued with them."
Victoria's composure cracked for the first time all night.
Two of my men appeared at the far end of the corridor.
They didn't speak.
They didn't need to.
They simply stood where the exit used to be an option.
Victoria straightened.
Old habits.
"You can't do anything here.
This is a hospital.
There are witnesses."
"I know," I said.
"I'm counting on it."
A nurse touched my arm gently.
"Sir, your wife is asking for you."
I turned toward Elena's room.
Then I stopped.
On the admissions desk, Julian's phone was lit up with an incoming call.
The name on the screen made Victoria go completely still.
It was her lawyer.
At 4 a.m.
Someone had already called him before we even arrived.
I looked at Julian.
"Who knew we were coming here tonight?"
He said nothing.
But his eyes moved — just once — toward his mother.
And Victoria looked away.
---
What Elias found out next — about who made that call and why — changed everything he thought he knew about Elena's family.
The truth is darker than anyone expected.
