Chapter 2: The Folder He Never Knew Existed

PART 2
I drove home alone.
Clara was already asleep, her small hand curled around the edge of her blanket.
I sat at the kitchen table for a long time without turning the lights on.
Then I opened the folder.
My father had been a corporate attorney for thirty-one years.
When he passed, he left me three things: his watch, his Bible, and a locked filing box he told me to open only "when you need it most."
Inside were documents I had never seen before.
A shareholder agreement.
Dated eleven years ago.
My name was on it.
Not Flynn's.
Mine.
My father had quietly purchased a 34% stake in Vance Global before Flynn and I were even married.
He had placed it entirely in my name and said nothing — not to me, not to Flynn.
Thirty-four percent.
Flynn had spent two years telling me I didn't work, didn't contribute, didn't deserve a necklace.
He had no idea his company had belonged to me — in part — the entire time.
My phone lit up on the table.
A message from a number I didn't recognize.
*"Mrs.
Vance.
We need to speak.
I was on that call tonight.
I have the recording.
And there's something else you should know about Flynn and Selina — something that goes far beyond the affair."*
My hand went still.

What Mabel discovered next — about Flynn, Selina, and the secret hidden inside Vance Global — is more shocking than anyone expected.
