Chapter 2: The Last Page

Part 2 ⬇️
Richard didn't move.
He just stood there, champagne glass in his hand, staring at me like he was seeing a ghost.
The glass slipped.
It shattered across the marble floor.
Sienna grabbed his arm.
"Richard — what is this?
You told me she had weeks left."
He said nothing.
"Richard." Her voice cracked.
"You told me she was dying."
He finally found his voice.
"This isn't possible."
"And yet," I said, "here I am."
I set the folder on the table slowly, deliberately, right next to their champagne bottle.
Sienna snatched it open.
Her face went pale as she flipped through page after page — photographs, bank transfers, property deeds, all of it signed in my name.
"You lied to me," she whispered.
She turned to Richard.
"You said these companies were yours."
Richard's jaw tightened.
"Sienna, stop—"
"You said we'd be set for life!" Her voice rose.
"You said she had nothing left to leave anyone else!"
That's when my lawyer stepped through the front door.
Behind him were two police officers.
Richard looked at me.
For the first time in years, I saw something in his eyes I had never seen before.
Fear.
"There's one more thing inside that folder," I said quietly.
"Turn to the last page."
His hands were shaking as he reached for it.
What was on that final page made Richard's lawyer hang up the phone and walk away.
