Chapter 2: The Name I Had Never Seen Before

Part 2 ⬇️

The officer laid the contents on the table one by one.

Photos.

A folded document.

And a small pink hair clip I recognized immediately.

Cynthia's.

The one she had been wearing in the last photo she ever sent me.

My legs stopped working.

I grabbed the edge of the table.

On the phone, Gary was still talking.

Fast.

Desperate.

"Listen to me.

Whatever you're looking at — it's not what you think.

Just walk away.

Don't say anything to them.

Come home and I'll explain everything."

"Gary." My voice came out barely above a whisper.

"Where is our daughter?"

Silence.

"Gary.

Where is Cynthia?"

"I can't tell you that right now."

The room tilted.

"You CAN'T tell me — "

"Not on the phone.

Please.

Come home."

The officer beside me had already stepped away and was speaking quietly into his radio.

I looked back at the table.

Underneath the photos was the folded document.

I reached for it with shaking hands and opened it.

It wasn't a ransom note.

It wasn't a police report.

It was a signed agreement.

Two names at the bottom.

Gary's.

And one I had never seen before.

The officer put his hand gently on my arm.

"Ma'am, we need to ask you some questions."

Gary was still on the line.

Still talking.

But I had already stopped listening.

Because the name on that document told me Cynthia's disappearance was never random.

Someone had planned it.

And Gary had known from the very beginning.

---

What was in those photos — and who signed that document with Gary?

The full truth is darker than anything you're imagining.
