Chapter 2: The Name on the Page

**PART 2**
Julian didn't get out of the car.
He just sat there, both hands still on the wheel, staring at the man standing beside my father on the front porch.
I stepped out first.
"Julian?
You coming?"
He didn't answer.
The man on the porch was Martin Reeves — a federal financial investigator I had worked alongside for three years before my corporate compliance role ended.
He wasn't there as a friend.
He was holding a manila folder, and he was watching Julian's car with the calm, patient expression of someone who had been waiting a long time.
My father shook Martin's hand and said nothing.
Julian finally opened his door.
His voice came out thin.
"What is he doing here?"
"He's an old colleague," I said.
"We had some things to catch up on."
Julian's jaw tightened.
"Phoebe—"
"Northstar Consulting," Martin said quietly from the porch.
Just two words.
Nothing else.
Julian went completely still.
I watched his face move through three expressions in two seconds — confusion, recognition, and then something very close to fear.
"I don't know what she told you," Julian started, "but—"
Martin opened the folder.
The first page was a bank transfer record.
The second was a copy of the LLC registration.
The third was something I hadn't seen before — and when I looked at it, my stomach dropped.
There was a fourth name on that LLC.
Not Leo.
Not Julian.
Mine.

What was Phoebe's name doing on that document — and who put it there?
The full truth is more shocking than anyone expected.
