Adrian's first word was not a name.
It was a question.
"Where is she?"
Dr.
Greene hesitated.
"Mr.
Moretti, you need to rest—"
"The child." Adrian's voice was raw but certain.
"Where is the little girl?"
The doctor stepped back.
Marco, Adrian's head of security, moved forward from the doorway.
"She's downstairs with her mother.
Hannah Carter.
Sir…
the hallway camera shows Hannah was the last person to enter your study with the tray."
The room went very still.
Adrian looked at Marco for a long moment.
"Pull every camera.
Every angle.
Every second from two o'clock onward."
"Already done." Marco set a tablet on the bed.
"There's something you need to see."
The footage was grainy but clear enough.
Vincent Bellini.
The blue vial.
The trembling hand.
Adrian watched it twice without speaking.
Then Marco said quietly, "Vincent resigned this morning.
Said it was a family emergency.
He was gone before we found you."
Adrian closed his eyes.
Twenty-three years.
Vincent had worked for his father before him.
"And the child's EpiPen?"
Marco's jaw tightened.
"It was her last one, sir.
The mother has been trying to reach the pharmacy all afternoon."
Adrian said nothing.
But his hand closed slowly around the edge of the bed sheet.
Something in that room had shifted — and it had nothing to do with Vincent.

What Adrian did next — for Ellie, for Hannah, and for the man who betrayed him — is something no one in that mansion expected.
