Chapter 2: What the Phone Was Still Recording

Grant's arm dropped to his side.
The phone was still recording.

Keller, this is a warrant covering your phone, your personal accounts, and the property records filed with Wake County in March of last year."
Grant turned to his mother.
She took one step back.
"You told me the paperwork was clean," he said quietly.
Diane said nothing.
That silence told the whole room everything.
Then one of the officers asked Grant to place the phone on the table — and I watched eighty-seven witnesses hold their breath.
But what they found on that phone was something even I wasn't prepared for.

What Grant had recorded without realizing it changed everything.
