Chapter 2: The Message From a Stranger

She grabbed her phone with shaking hands.

Her father stepped forward and snatched it out of her grip.

"You will NOT embarrass this family."

"Give me back my phone!"

Her brother laughed from the couch — her couch — and stretched his arms above his head like he owned the place.

"Relax.

She looked around the room — at the pictures her brother had already hung on her walls, at the boxes stacked in her hallway, at the family that had just erased everything she built.

Then her phone buzzed on the floor where her father had dropped it.

A message.

From a number she didn't recognize.

*I saw what they did.

I have proof.

Don't say anything yet.*

She stared at the screen.

Her brother was still laughing.

She slowly picked up the phone and slipped it into her pocket without a word.

---

Someone was watching — and they have proof.

What they reveal next will leave this family with nowhere to hide.
