Charles answered the call.

I watched him through the open doorway, still on my knees on the porch, one hand pressed to my stomach.

His face changed the moment he heard the voice on the other end.

"Charles, we should go."

"You're not going anywhere," I said.

The siren was closer now.

A woman in a gray suit stepped out, holding a document case.

Charles took one step back when he saw her face.

"Who is that?" Courtney whispered.

He didn't answer.

But his hands had started to shake.

What Lucas prepared is bigger than anyone knew.
